PINKY PORTER SCHOOL OF COOKING

Chuck's Beer Bread

Chuck's Beer Bread

Chuck hasn't been gone long enough to be considered a legend, but he was a dear friend and a great cook. He probably loved beer and golf more than anyone should, and he guarded his recipes with his life. No matter how many of my favorites I shared with him, he never A gave up his secrets.

One of my favorites was Chuck's Beer Bread. I knew it was simple and I had tried other recipes, but they just weren't the same. Maybe it was the cold beer straight from the keg, which was built into his beautiful wine cellar.

l moved away from my home town in the mid west. As I got older, the phone calls between us grew less frequent as the years passed. I heard one day that Chuck was gone, and I just smiled as the warm memories seem to touch my heart. OLE Chuck was gone and so were all his wonderful recipes. A few months later a small box arrived by UPS and inside I found a little note simply saying:

"l didn’t forget. Love, Chuck"

Here is our first of Chuck's Recipes
